Weekly Lesson Plans February 20th-24th
Monday- No School
Tuesday- Students are finishing the video Twister. They will turn their questions in at the end of the period.
Wednesday- Students will be trading and grading their Chapter 22 Study Guides. Study Guides were handed out last Thursday due to computer problems. Homework- study for the chapter 22 test including the cloud and water cycle diagrams.
Thursday- Students will take the Chapter 22 test. Extra credit will be given and it is due on Friday.
Friday- Students will be watching a video about Geologic Time. This video will focus on topics learned in Chapter 21 and Chapter 22 like plate tectonics, volcanoes, climate, erosion, weathering, fossils, the law of supeposition, radiometric dating etc. Students will have a question sheet where they will be writing down dofferent characteristics about climate, geology, and plant and animal life for a variety of different Eons and Eras. The video sheet is due at the end of the period. No homework over the weekend.

Monday- Bellringer #34 Read Surviving Natural Disasters pg. 793 Answer question 1. Students will outline Chapter 22 Section 3 Weather and Climate pg.789 and answer the Section Review Questions #1-5 on page 795. Whatever they do not finish in class is homework.
Tuesday- Students will watch Twister and fill out a question sheet.

Friday- 11:30 dismissal Students will take their Chapter 22 Vocab Quiz. No homework over the weekend.

Weekly Lesson Plans February 6th-10th
Monday- Bellringer #32 1. Which layer of the atmosphere is the closest to Earth? 2. Which layer of the atmosphere is farthest away? 3. Which layer of the atmosphere is coldest? Students will take notes and have discussion over Chapter 22 Section 1 Characteristics of the atmosphere. Homework: CH 22 Review pg. 780 #1-7. Students will have a 10 point quiz over Section 1 on Tuesday.
Tuesday- Students will have 5 minutes to review Section 1. Students will take a 10 point quiz over the main points in Section 1. Students will work on an activity where they are graphing altitudes and temperatures and then labeling the different layers of the atmosphere. Homework- Finish Graphing the Atmosphere.
Wednesday- Bellringer #33 Read Harnessing the Wind on page 788, answer question 2. Students will discuss the limitations to wind energy and watch a video clip about how wind turbines are causing bat lungs to explode. Students will take notes over Chapter 22 Section 2 Water and Wind. Homework: Labeling clouds and the water cycle sheet and the Chapter 22 Section 2 Review questions pg. 787 #1-7. Students will have a quiz on Thursday over the main concepts of Section 2.
Thursday- Students will be conducting a greenhouse effect lab. Thier lab sheet is due Friday. Inbetween taking temperatures of their jars, students will be taking the Quiz over the main points of section 2, and working on their vocab. Homework- Lab and Chapter 22 Vocab page 799, 15 words.
Friday- Students are going to do a Prehistoric Climate Activity. In the lesson plan, the class does the work of a team of paleontologists studying a time of rapid global warming 55 million years ago. By examining fossils of leaves from various tree species, and by incorporating the findings into a mathematical formula, the students are able to tell average annual temperatures during this prehistoric time.

Tuesday- Students will have the entire period to work on their Chapter 21 study guide. The study guide is due on Thursday.
Wednesday- Students will watch the video Raging Planet: How the Grand Canyon was formed.
Thursday- Students will trade and grade their chapter 21 study guide. Then we will play the gameshow review. Students need to study for the test on Friday.

Geology Website

The glacially deposited sands around Lake Winnibigoshish, Minnesota, contain abundant sediments from the igneous and metamorphic minerals of the Lake Superior basin.
