March 30 April 4th

Weekly Lesson Plans March 30th-April 4th

Monday- Chapter 11 Test over Motion.

TuesdayBR# 41 Read "How do air bags work?" pg. 399 Answer both questions in your journal. Students will take notes and have discussion over Chapter 12 S.1 Forces.  Homework- Chapter 12 S.1 Questions that deal with Newton's 1st and 2nd laws and force, mass, acceleration problems.

WednesdayBR#42 Read Black Holes pg.411 answer question 1 in your journal.  Students will have notes and discussion over Chapter 12 S.2 about Gravity.  Homework: Worksheet about Newton's 1st and 2nd laws and Gravity.

ThursdayBR #43 Read “Integrating Space Science” on page 404.  Use a 58kg person for the weight in your bellringer. Students will explore projectile motion with the Monkey Hunter Lab. Homework: Lab questions.

Friday-BR # 44 Read How Rockets work pg. 416 answer question 1 in your journal.  Students will watch several youtube clips about Newton's 1st and 2nd laws dealing with an egg drop demo.   Students will take notes and have discussion over Chapter 12 S.3 about Newton's 3rd Law. Homework: Worksheet about Newton's 3rd law of motion and Momentum problems.


ReminderChapter 12 Test will be next Thursday the 10th.

March 24-28

Weekly Lesson Plans March 24th-28th

Monday- Students have the opportunity to participate in a centripetal acceleration demo.  Then students are working on a Chapter 11 Review packet to help review all of the key concepts from Chapter 11.

Tuesday- Students will complete the Bubble Gum Lab.  Students will be working with a partner to determine what their average chomp speed is for five trials and then for one minute.

Wednesday-Students will complete the Reaction Time Lab.  They will calculate reaction time by using falling distance data, compare reaction times measured by using a stopwatch with reaction times calculated from falling distance data, and evaluate the methods used to determine reaction time in the experiment.

Thursday- Students have the entire class period to work on their Chapter 11 Study Guide that reviews Motion, Acceleration, and Fundamental Forces.

Friday- Trade and grade the Chapter 11 Study Guide.

March 17-21

Weekly Lesson Plans March 17th-21st

Monday- BR # 38 1. What is motion?  2. Give three examples of motion.  Students will take notes and have discussion over Chapter 11 S.1.  Homwork: Chapter 11 S.1 Worksheet.

Tuesday- BR # 39 1. Logan rode his bike 60km in 4 hours.  How fast was he going?  2.  Matt rode his bike 90km in 6 hours.  How fast was he going?  3.  Who was the fastest bike rider?  Students will do the Measuring Speed Lab and then work on their homework- speed, distance, and time problems.

Wednesday- BR # 40 1. Olivia can pitch a baseball a distance of 50m in 2s.  How fast is her pitch?  2.  How long does it take a bird to fly 200km if it travels ar a speed of 50km/h?  3.  A person in a kayak paddles down river at a average speed of 15km/h.  After 3.25 hours, how far have they traveled?  Students will take notes and have discussion over Chapter 11 S.2.  Homework: Acceleration Practice Problems.

Thursday-  Students will have notes and discussion over Chapter 11 S.3 Forces and Friction.  Students will watch a Mythbusters clip about Force and Free Fall.  Homework: Ch 11 vocab.

Friday- Half Day!  Students will watch Bill Nye Motion.

March 10-14

Weekly Lesson Plans March 10th-14th

Monday- Students will take their Chapter 22 Test.  Extra Credit will be available after the test.  This test and extra credit are the last two assignments going into the grade book for 3rd quarter.

Tuesday- Students will begin watching Twister.

Wednesday- Students will continue watching Twister.

Thursday- Students will finish watching Twister.

Friday- Students will start Chapter 11.  They will participate in a motion on motion activity where they will practice measuring distance and time.

March 3-7

Weekly Lesson Plans March 3rd-7th

Monday- BR#37 Read Surviving natural Disasters pg. 793 answer questions 1 in your journal. Students have to turn in their Greenhouse Effect Lab by the end of the class period.  Students outline  Chapter 22 S.3 about Weather and Climate.  The section starts on pg. 789.  Outline is due on Tuesday. Students need to study their vocab for the quiz on Wednesday.  Their vocab sheet is due Wednesday.

Tuesday- Students will be participating in a Prehistoric Climate Activity.  Students will be looking at pictures of real leaf fossils and using them to figure out the climate.  The activity is all done in class.  If a student does not finish it is due on Wednesday.  Students need to study their vocab for the quiz on Wednesday.  Their vocab sheet is due Wednesday.

Wednesday- Students will take their Chapter 22 Vocab Quiz then they have the rest of the period to work on their Chapter 22 The Atmosphere Study Guide.  Study Guide is due on Friday.  Test is Monday.

Thursday- Students will watch a video about the Geologic Time Scale.

Friday- Journals are due #27-37. Students will trade and grade the Chapter 22 Study Guide.  They need to study for their test on Monday!
